After more than 70 years of intensive economic growth with its wealth-increasing effect, the negative ecological and social limits of this development are becoming increasingly clear:

The Earth’s resources and its ability to bear the consequences of human economic activity are being exhausted. Working hours and demands as well as unlimited consumption are becoming a burden for people themselves.

The ever-increasing unequal distribution of income and wealth both between the global North and South and within the rich industrialized countries is leading to social and political tensions.
