Economic Forum 2022
After a long break, the 6th Business Forum was finally able to take place in person again this year. On July 5, 2022, the focus was on innovation and sustainability in times of change. More than 100 participants from academia, business and society received current insights into developments around the question of how innovations can contribute to society’s demand for sustainable problem solutions in technical-economic, legal and ecological-social terms within the framework of three exciting lectures with subsequent discussions, impulse presentations by students and a World Café. In summary, this year’s business forum was a success because the connection between the topics of innovation and sustainability became clear from different perspectives. Sustainability needs innovation and innovation needs sustainability, so it could be well put together. Isolating the topics, on the other hand, is difficult, because it is not enough to explain sustainability merely in terms of recommendations for behavioral change via renunciation. Rather, solutions are conceivable and implementable on a structural level. Examples include emission-free air conditioning and efficient refrigeration technology, sustainable investment strategies of a central bank, purpose-based taxation of the state, the latter as revenue for the state, which it then uses again for innovations. So it’s important not to hastily isolate complex issues and relationships and present them as one-dimensional. We look forward to the continuation of the Economic Forum next year and hope to again welcome many participants to the Darmstadt campus.

Economic Forum 2020
The 5th economic forum of the h_da took place on 30.01.2020. After the successful and well-attended business forums in January 2019 and 2018 as well as in autumn 2016 and 2015, the students of the Faculty of Economics also organised and conducted a business forum in the previous winter semester.
The 5th h_da Economic Forum was dedicated to the main topic “Smart Region4 – Die digitale Transformation in der Region nachhaltig gestalten”.
You could expect technical lectures, implementation-oriented workshops and interesting discussion rounds with participants from politics, society, science and economy. The Business Forum offered you many opportunities to get involved and to view the topic from different perspectives.
The h_da Business Forum was founded by students of the Faculty of Economics of the Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences. Since then, the students and professors of the Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences have been inviting students and professors once a year to discuss important social topics and questions from an economic perspective and to drive forward future-oriented joint development projects.
